Who is your favorite chess player and why?
I really like Mikhail Tal. I think his games are really like art.
Widely regarded as a creative genius and one of the best attacking players of all time, Tal played in a daring, combinatorial style. His play was known above all for improvisation and unpredictability. Every game, he once said, was as inimitable and invaluable as a poem. He was often called "Misha", a diminutive for Mikhail, and "The magician from Riga". Both The Mammoth Book of the World's Greatest Chess Games and Modern Chess Brilliancies include more games by Tal than any other player. In addition, Tal was a highly regarded chess writer. He also holds the records for both the first and second longest unbeaten streaks in competitive chess history.
"There are two types of sacrifices: Correct ones and Mine." - Tal

Paul Morphy, one of the greatest American Chess Players. Paul Morphy was also considered one of the top players by Bobby Fischer who said he was one of the most accurate players that ever lived.

I don't know any of these guys. I only heard of Bobby Fishcer. Searching for Bobby Fischer was a good movie.David Martin
Something about him saying the Soviets rigged the chess matches and he refused to play. Some of the Russian players agreed to draw with each other so they can save their energy and focus to play against Fischer.David Martin
Bobby Fischer, arguably one of the greatest chess players of all time!
Too bad, he disappeared so suddenly.Anton Ivanov
Gary Kasparov is my favorite. He is a great tactician.
"I try to play, always, beautiful games…always I wanted to create masterpieces." – Garry Kasparov
