Growing Content on Auxo
We were last discussing what Auxo is in our Beginners Guide. We’ll continue to discuss the benefits of Auxo.
On social media, sometimes it is difficult to find content that you find interesting or relevant.
Content that you are not interested in seeing is called ‘noise.’ Excess noise is something that all social media platforms strive to minimize.
Auxo’s Voting Buttons
To combat irrelevant ‘noise,’ Auxo has implemented a curation system where users can vote on content they like.
This ensures that the most helpful or popular posts will be featured above unhelpful or irrelevant content.
Many sites like Reddit and Quora do this very well with their upvoting system, where users can vote on posts, answers, and comments.
But unlike these sites, Auxo does not use a downvote. There are only two upvotes.
You can help “Grow” people’s posts with these buttons.
When users come across a comment or post they like, they can vote on it with Auxo’s buttons.
- Growth = Thumbs Up
- Increased Growth = Two Thumbs Up
The “Growth” button is the standard ‘Like’ button for Auxo.
It also functions as an upvote. Each button is weighted differently with the second button being worth slightly more.
You can use these buttons to like and upvote posts, questions, answers, and comments.
We decided against downvoting because some people use it to incorrectly. They downvote a post or comment just because they do not agree with it. However, some insightful or truthful comments can go against popular opinion or views. To prevent this, we implemented two upvoting buttons to help content grow even more.
Once you earn the Silver Medal (by inviting a friend to join Auxo), you can have access to the Content Board.
The Content Board is where users can create blog posts.
You can create a blog post with the SEED button.
Seeding content is a great way to gather an audience of followers. You can post videos, images, or blog articles. (When posting blog articles, make sure you attribute the original author and give proper credit.)
When you are active on the Content Board, you will receive a Gold Medal and unlock extra buttons to follow members.
Do you Follow Me?
Another popular button on social media is the “Follow” button. This is when you follow a person to see all of their posts on your feed.
Following is good, if you want to stay up to date on people the you care about.
However, following many people can increase ‘noise’ that you must sort through in order to see content you truly care about.
This happens because of Follow-for-Follow.
You follow someone, hoping they will follow you back. Other people follow you and you feel obligated to follow them back.
Everybody wants to increase their follower count, right? But not everyone wants to clutter up their update feed.
When you follow others out of courtesy, you will clutter up your feed with irrelevant content.
To prevent this, Auxo has implemented an anonymous follow system.
This way you can follow the people you really want, without feeling obligated to follow others back.
You follow people with the “Harvest” button. You can save posts with the “Plant” button.
Once you follow a member, you will see their posts on the Harvesting section of the Content Board.
When you unlock the “Plant” and “Harvest” buttons, you will see them on individual posts.
This way you can harvest and follow members.
You can also share any interesting posts on Facebook or Twitter with the social icons on the bottom of every post.
(The “Plant” button is the save button. You can save individual posts in your ThreadBox. The ThreadBox is your InBox for personal discussions you join in on. Your ThreadBox is unlocked when you receive the Gold Medal.)
Every game has a button you press.
Super Mario had a great game design.
Someone who has never played Super Mario may notice and comment,
“All you do is press one button all day, what do you get out of it?”
But this is the brilliance of game design. Simple Actions (“A” button press) could yield important consequences. A player may have a lofty goal of saving the princess. They cross multiple levels, collect points, power ups, and lives. All of this is done by a player merely clicking buttons to make character jump and run faster.
You interact with a repeatable button press. The button helps you progress through different levels as you collect points.
As you level up, you earn experience points and upgrades to help you on your journey. When you collect enough points, you can get ranked and seen at the top of the scoreboard.
The leader-board is a great way for people to see the top players and their scores.
Likewise, when your posts start collecting votes, they can be featured at the top of the Growing section on Auxo.
We tried to make Auxo as fun as possible.
You can earn medals, collect votes, and unlock features to help you progress through Auxo.
You can show off your stats to other members with your Profile Page.
Hopefully you’ll have fun using Auxo’s buttons and collecting votes!

Tom! It's really simple. All you do is create a post for the Content Board.
Click the SEED button next to the green "Start New Topic"
When you make your first post you get Gold and see the extra buttons on posts.
Hope that helps!Tuan Tran
Tom, you just make "SEED" post and you'll get a medal and unlock the Plant & Harvest buttons.Tom McMahon
Hey Janet, thanks for the tip. I actually just got those other buttons by making my first post the other day. But it took me awhile just to get it. I didn't even see the SEED button at first. I later saw on general questions that you have to invite someone to 'unlock' the content board. I'm not sure why they made it like this, but I just sent an email invite to another one of my email accounts. It still didn't show up. Then I had to register that second account on here and when I logged back into this account, I got a pop up and then I saw the SEED button. They made it kind of complicated, but I hope this can help others wondering how to get the SEED button.Luke Shields
Actually, it's not that hard. You just SEED your first post. That's it, then you get the extra buttons and ThreadBox. I'm liking the ThreadBox. I can see it being very useful later on when the site grows.Luke Shields
All you do is hit the "Add Friend" button and when they join it's unlockedTom McMahon
Luke, I was referring to unlocking the Content Board and getting the SEED button in the first place. I know getting the other buttons and ThreadBox is easy. But for me to access the Content Board without being logged out took me awhile to figure out.Luis Reed
Hey Brady, the ThreadBox is like an inbox for posts you save and collect. It's how I keep track of my posts right now. When I get a new comment I got email alerts but I turned it off. I just plant my own posts or posts I'm watching. Then when you get a comment you see the post move up to the top of the ThreadBox. So you see active posts at the top and inactive posts at the bottom.
